Microinjectors For All Your Microinjection Applications

Designed to simplify intracellular injection and a variety of other microinjection tasks, the uPUMP offers these great features:

  • Regulated compensation and injection pressure
  • Pressure output: 0.3–87 PSI
  • Low volume tubing assembly
  • Inject using foot switch (included)
  • Inject using a TTL pulse from external computer or pulse generator (Cable to connect to pulse generator included)
  • Integrated pressure source

New Generation of Pressure Injectors

For All Your Microinjection Needs

WPI's new generation pressure microinjectors are quickly replacing the very popular legacy line of pneumatic valve PicoPumps Pressure Injectors. The PV820 and PV830 have been a staple in the microinjection market for decades. The μPUMP is our Microinjector with an Internal Pressure Source.

One common microinjection method uses a glass micropipette to inject a liquid substance into a living cell or into the intercellular space, typically using an inverted microscope. The glass microinjection needle tip can vary in size from sub-micron to about 5-6µm in diameter. It will be larger if you are injecting stem cells into an embryo. The needles penetrate the cell membrane or even the nuclear envelope, in order to introduce a vector into a cell or nucleus. The vector could be a DNA molecule that carries foreign genetic material into the host cell where it replicates. By altering the embryo, microinjection can be used to genetically modify various animals like mice, fish (zebrafish, medaka, etc.), C. elegans, rats, rabbits, and even large domesticated animals like cattle, sheep and pigs.

 Benefits

  • Convenient internal pressure source
  • Intuitive user-interface
  • Small footprint takes up very little bench space
  • Easy to navigate with touch screen and control knob
  • High precision for reproducible injections – microliters to picoliter
  • All inclusive system
  • Plug-and-play system to begin working as quickly as possible
  • Compensation pressure comparison for accuracy

Applications

  • Explosive sensing with insect-based biorobots
  • Electron transfer kinetics on mono and multilayer graphene
  • Creation of transgenic animals
    • Any nucleic acid can be introduced into any kind of cell
    • No length limitation (100’s of kb’s of DNA) on the transfer of foreign genes
    • Used to genetically modify animals like mice, fish, C. elegans, rats, rabbits and large domestic animals such as cattle, sheep, and pigs

  • Injecting substances into cells
    • Nucleic acids
    • Organelles
    • Kinases
    • Histochemical markers (such as horseradish peroxidase or fluorescent yellow)
    • Proteins, antibodies
    • Metabolites
    • Ions
  • Microperfusion, which is the precise delivery of a small amount (pL to µL) of drug to a single cell or group of cells, such as a pharmacological drug test
  • Analysis of early development processes like gastrulation, organogenesis, etc.
